Indoor or Outdoor Indoor aviary (climate controlled with natural gas heater for electrical emergencies).
Geographic Location Located in Alabama.
Aviary Size (length, depth, height) 12' x 8' x 7'.
Materials Used Custom built by a cabinet maker of hard rock maple and window screen.
Floor is Made of Sunroom floor is tile. Vinyl is stapled to frame of aviary. Aspen bedding is used on the floor.
Ceiling is Made of Screen.
Lighting Recessed lights in sunroom ceiling plus almost full-lenth wall windows. Also three shop lights with full spectrum bulbs. Lights are on timers.
Special Design Features The inside wall surface of window screen is smooth so there is no place for the birds to perch and poop.
Number and Types of Finches Housed in Aviary at Time of Photo I try to keep between 50 and 55 in open flight. There are 12 species.
