Indoor or Outdoor Outdoor aviary.
Geographic Location Located in Arizona, USA.
Aviary Size (length, depth, height) There are nine flights in all and a walkway. Six flights are 3' x 6' x 7', two flights are 3' x 6' x 7 1/2' and one is 3' x6' x 10'. The walk way is 3' x 6' x 18' and the floor is cement slab 14' x 22'.
Materials Used We used 1" square tubing steel, welded together and sprayed with kaylon paint, to make the frame. 1/2"x1" galvanized wire from Home Depot was used to separate each flight and to close in tops. Self-watering dishes, made by Little Giant, were installed in each flight. We used 1/2" pvc to run water lines. The dishes and all the hardware are made by:

Miller Manufacturing Company Inc
494 Villaume Ave South
St Paul Minnesota 55075
Phone # 612-451-1761

3/16" x 14" washers and 10/32" x 3/4" screws were used to bolt all the wire down.

Floor is Made of Concrete.
Ceiling is Made of Ceiling is made of greenhouse glazing type material which is smoke colored and we splotched it with green paint to give more shade so it looks like the birds are sitting under trees.
Lighting We have two small night lights (the kind used in the house at night) that go off in the day time automatically. There are also pink bulbs which provide just enough light for my little ones.
Special Design Features During winter months, we place two #hs400 ceramic heaters from Holmes in the walk way. The entire outside is wrapped with heavy plastic that have construction zippers installed so I could open any section in the warm days for fresh air. It works very well for the winter months.

My husband built my feeder boxes so the seed comes out on its own and the trays under them catch fallen seed, making it very easy to keep clean and my birds always have fresh clean seed.

I have fake silk greens in the flights with the nests.

Number and Types of Finches Housed in Aviary at Time of Photo I have one pair each of gouldians, owls, almadines and lavenders in several of the flights. I am hoping they will all be breeders soon. In two flights I have baby owls, almadines and gouldians separated into one flight for females and one flight for males. I have one flight with two pairs of shafttails and a single fellow who I am looking for a mate for.
Breeding or Non-Breeding Breeding aviaries.
Additional Comments My husband Charlie and I built this ourselves and are so proud of how it came out.
