Camryn McKeegan is very excited.
Tomorrow is her first day of school. "What should I
wear to school?" Camryn wondered as she examined the dresses
in her closet. She wants to look extra special for
such an important day.
"Camryn, I have a surprise for
you!" Mother Cynthia McKeegan called from her bedroom.
"Please come here."
Camryn skipped down the hall,
eager to see what her mother has in store for her. She
gasped when she saw the pretty dresses hanging from a
clothes rack in her mother's room.
"Are those for me?" she asked.
She ran her fingers across the colourful flower print of one
of the dresses.
"Yes, my dear. The dresses
are for you," Mother McKeegan said, smiling at her daughter.
"I bought them in town this morning." She took a red
dress off its hanger and held it out for Camryn to admire.
"Can I try it on?" Camryn asked.
She wiggled with excitement. Camryn loves to try on
new clothes.
"Try on all three," Mother
McKeegan said. She chuckled as Camryn studied the
dresses with wide eyes. "You can pick out your
favourite dress for school tomorrow."
Mother McKeegan helped Camryn
slip each dress over her head; first the red checked dress,
then the yellow and blue one with beautiful pink flowers and
red buttons, and finally a blue denim dress that came with a
matching purse.
"This is it!" Camryn cried as
she twirled in front of her mother's mirror to show off her
new blue denim dress. "This is the dress that I will
wear to school tomorrow. I'll wear the red checked
dress the next day and the blue one with flowers after that.
Three new dresses for the first three days of school.
Thanks, mom!"
Camryn gave her mom a great big
hug.
"You look wonderful Camryn,"
Mother Cynthia McKeegan said, smiling proudly at her
daughter. "I'm sure your first day of school will be a
very special day."
