"Let's have a tea party!" Polly Wildwood said to her best friend, Andromeda Petit.  Holly and Andromeda are in the same classroom at Cloverleaf Corners Elementary School.  But today isn't a school day.  It is Saturday.

"Saturday is the best day of the week," the two girls agree.

"Saturday is the day we get to play pretend."

Polly and Andromeda love to pretend that they are grown up ladies meeting for afternoon tea.

"Would you like one lump or two?" Andromeda asked her guest as they sat down on a checked blanket in her backyard.

"I'll have two," Polly said.  She likes her tea sweet.  Polly spied the doughnuts that Andromeda had set out on china dishes.

"May I have a doughnut too?" she asked.

:"Of course," Andromeda replied.

"I bought them just for you."  Andromeda likes to please her guests.

The two friends sip their tea and nibble doughnuts, as the afternoon sun grew hotter.  Andromeda remembered that ladies always protect their faces from the sun.  She ran inside to fetch two straw hats, one for her and one for her guest.

Polly smiled as she tucked her ears under the hat and pulled it onto her head.  She tied the hat's ribbon firmly under her chin.  She didn't want her ears to spring up and pop her hat off.

"There's nothing worse than a freckled rabbit," she said.

Andromeda giggled and pulled her hat firmly onto her head.

"Except for a freckled bear."

When the girls were finished with their teatime treats, Polly said goodbye to her friend.

"I had a great time," she called to Andromeda as she walked down the road toward home.

"Let's do it again next Saturday!"
