Random Photos of my Collection
with No Landscaping

photos taken July 19, 2008

All scenes shown below were hastily put together
without regard for esthetics or composition.
The scenes have been set up for test purposes,
but it's so cool to see some of my collection out of storage
that I had to take photos and post them.

The blue stuff on which the camping scene
is 1" foam insulation board.
A portion of the foam will be cut away
to create a beach scene.
Supplemental lighting will also be used, as shown below,
to better catch the details
and render colour better for video making.

The Mill on the Hill is being tested for height.
The Canal Boat is being tested with the blue fabric
that will be used for water.
I think the Mill could go another layer of 2" foam.
The fabric will need to be secured in such a way
that it will look like gentle waves.

Ah-ha!  This is the supplemental lighting written about above.
It's a pretty sophisticated system if I say so myself!
The beauty of this light set up is multi-fold:

  • inexpensive to put together (without duct tape!)

  • easy to move the entire system around

  • folds down for easy storage

  • both lights plug into the power bar and with a flick of the switch both lights turn on

  • bulbs are daylight compact fluorescent for excellent colour rendering

This is my JP Fountain House with only the Village's
ceiling lighting system on.
Note how dark it is inside the rooms.

This is my JP Fountain House with both the Village's
ceiling and supplemental lighting systems on.
Note how the rooms are well lit with the extra lights.

These are the first photos of what currently constitutes
my Misty Forest collection.
All of these items have yet to be catalogued.
Notice that the photo is slightly over-exposed.

Another over-exposed photo of my Misty Forest collection.
Among many other things about my new Village,
I'll have to get used to the lighting systems.
Alternative lighting may also be necessary
to make high quality videos.

I'm still learning about how the ceiling lighting
works with my camera.
This photo is properly exposed.

This photo is also properly exposed.
The Village will look significantly better
after the landscaping is completed.
