Theresa, My Daughter

A child's life

How does one celebrate the life of an only child,
a daughter named Theresa?

There are many ways, of course.
Carefully chosen photographs, however,
recount a story that requires but a few words...

My daughter is about to graduate from high school
this June, 2003.

She's no longer a child with simple desires
and an easy temperament.
Theresa is slowly becoming a woman,
a woman not unlike her mother.

I won't kid you here.
Theresa is not what I'd call enthusiastic about my preparing this photo essay. More than anything, I don't think she wants the world beating a path to our Internet door to view her life on-line. I don't blame her, so I've gone to the trouble of making sure this site isn't indexed on any search engines.

One caution before proceeding, and that is of photo quality, especially of the older ones. What the photos in this collection sometimes lack in quality in no way lessens their value as a means of chronicling my daughter's life thus far.

With that thought in mind, let's go forward
with my personal tribute to my daughter, Theresa...

Theresa was born at home with the assistance
of two trained midwives in the spring of 1985.
Her dad, Irv, was also in attendance along
with my mom, Theresa's Grandma.

Moms sometimes like to view their children up close.

and sometimes from a little further away.

Despite Theresa's dad's and my divorce,
the two of them continued to spend
an enormous amount of time together.
Each summer they spend at least two weeks
 camping in various locations in
and around Alberta, our home province in Canada.

The date these photos were taken was July 30, 1993.
It marks the date Theresa gained a step-dad, Chris.

Since Theresa was going to be our flower girl, she,
of course, had to properly prepare.

She then practiced with a flower (on her nose)
before the mirror prior to the arrival
of our guests.

Theresa's had a long-standing love of cats.
Here she is with a collection cats,
some live and some that have come
to life in her imagination.
